Disclaimer: We have no idea what 80 of these will be…
As a city known for its food, Abu Dhabi is constantly offering new reasons to eat out. Big international brands and local restaurants are already launching some very exciting new dining destinations in 2022, but trust us, there are many more to come. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, this is Exhibit A…
Jose of Pizarro
In an office full of foodies, few discussions can ruin a productive day like “Do you want to see more food in this city?” Authentic Spanish food always comes out on top. When it comes to restaurants in Abu Dhabi, there isn’t much to say about it. The Madrid gap is real. This is a question Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad towers is very keen to say ‘goodbye‘ arrive.Their next member – which has to be one of the city’s strongest hotel portfolios of culinary excellence – is Jose of Pizarro, plans to start supplying small-plate fuego from March 2023. If the name sounds familiar, it’s probably because José Pizarro is a figurehead of the world’s gourmet ambassadors, showing the world the best of Spanish gastronomy. The José Pizarro group runs a string of highly regarded restaurants across Europe, serving (quite fittingly, Abu Dhabi’s recent Michelin acquisition) Bib Gourmand’s recognizable Iberian torch.
Salads (and more)
One of the most popular burger joints in Dubai, also what is on birthday sandwich — Slaw, will land at Al Qana, their first full-time position in the capital. Bun chef Ali Yazdi has turned his burger alchemy into an art—the menu is full of innovative topping combinations, obnoxiously spicy tender meat, messy fries and some absolutely monster chicken tender burgers. We were also drawn to the store’s name – with a “and more” suffix.Speculation about what this might mean is at what is on office? Can we expect more fresh gourmet fast food? Or maybe some more complicated menu item? Honestly, we don’t know right now, but we can’t wait to find out.
Su Matcha
Also in Al Qana, we can look forward to Soo Matcha’s next capital outpost. One of the most popular food trends. Matcha lovers say the powder has plenty of superfood-like benefits, so why not try Soo Matcha, the UAE’s first entirely matcha-inspired cafe on Al Banadir Street in Muroor. The menu has everything from matcha morning yogurt, matcha ice cream, matcha and coconut milk iced lattes, and more, all using Japanese ceremonial grade matcha green tea. @soomatcha.uae
Fergus Food Hall
As if Yas Bay’s culinary lineup wasn’t impressive enough, there are a number of new restaurants landing in the area thanks to a brand new food hall. Scheduled to open sometime in the first quarter of 2023, Foggs Food Hall is a replica of top Dubai bar Phileas Fogg’s and promises to bring us no fewer than 16 restaurants in the capital. Fogg’s Food Hall will include concepts like Bad Burgers, El Chapo’s Tacos, Slice Slice Baby and Balti Towers.
Love the vibe
The first Vibe Cafe opened in 2018 in the trendy food district of Al Wasl. It commands attention with its genuine caffeine enthusiasm, funky pink decor, buzzing neon artwork and a menu full of Instagrammable treats. attention. Fittingly, it’s an overall vibe. Next up is the brand’s licensed DIFC version, still exuding the same signature rosy palate – with a mission to dazzle new crowds at another of the city’s foremost culinary venues. It was only a matter of time before the Vibe Tribe would move their neon disco style to the capital, and we’ve just received confirmation that Abu Dhabi will be the home of their latest attempt, Love Vibe. We don’t have the full details yet, we do know the opening is set for sometime in early 2023. We have gorgeous renderings confirming the return of those famous pastel stripes, though this time it looks like a deliberate uptick in sophistication, a more grown-up Vibe.
BB Social Dining
BB Social Dining, a restaurant endorsed by Dubai Crown Prince HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has become such a successful and influential concept in its DIFC region that we’re really surprised it hasn’t conquered the world yet. But at least it’s in the works, and following KSA’s first outpost earlier this year – the Abu Dhabi branch at the rather slick Rosewood hotel is set to launch in December – it looks like the BB gang will wrap up well in 2022. If you’re wondering what to expect, we can share some of our favorite menu options for reference. We’re big fans of their Japanese and Korean buns (especially the crispy duck); the edamame hummus and crispy bean sprouts are a fantastic appetizer; Steak, Beef Pho and Harissa Lamb Chops. @bbdifc
Restaurants at Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi
The iconic ‘arches on stilts’ hotel (the building’s official name is the Fairmont Marina Abu Dhabi), seemingly forever a part of the Corniche skyline, finally opened late last year. But we don’t have the full picture of its culinary influence just yet, in fact it currently only offers seating at Turquoise’s all-day dining restaurant and a café called Godiva. The rest of the 10 signature restaurants and bars will open soon – Vero Italiano will offer guests a taste of Southern Europe; The Flame – the resort’s “five-star” steakhouse is ready to start cooking prime steaks; The Bakery The Club specializes in freshly baked breads, cakes and pastries for diners; People’s Restaurant will offer a fusion of international flavors; desserts at Godiva Café; Cuba Cigar Lounge, Privé Lounge and bar Anti-Dote round out the culinary mix.
Tashas’ Flamingo Room
We have received confirmation that a second UAE branch of Tashas’ Flamingo Room will open somewhere in Abu Dhabi later this year (probably Q3 or Q4), but we cannot confirm or deny at this time where it might be.the original Tashas’ Flamingo Room Opened back in 2017 at the stunning Jumeirah Al Naseem hotel in Dubai. There, the striking interior offers refined finishes that draw inspiration directly from Africa’s stunning wilderness. Playful elements such as mongooses and monkeys cast in bronze blend effortlessly with flamingo pink and gold Art Deco accents and an elegant food and drink menu. This is peak safari chic.
EL&N
We’re not 100% sure why, but we believe it’s now proven that Abu Dhabi absolutely loves food trucks. Maybe it’s the nostalgia for a romantic nomadic life; maybe it’s the semi-permanent excitement – a brief visit from an innovation pop-up, here for a moment, and then *woosh* being one of the winds; or when the kitchen works miles, Food does taste better. Whatever the reason, Abu Dhabi has food trucks. the concept. Not a truck. Perhaps the most exciting individual member of the Capital Wheels convoy is the EL&N Café on the Yas Bay waterfront. You’ll find it opposite the Etihad Arena, next to the Emerging Man sculpture. This food truck is essentially a starter for a full-fledged stationary cafe opening in Yas Bay sometime in the near future.

sticky rice
This home grown hidden gem – a Thai restaurant represented by the totemic cartoon duck “Kew” – is launching its first permanent restaurant in Abu Dhabi at Yas Mall. It’s a restaurant with a huge following in Dubai, built on mouthwatering, sometimes hard-to-pronounce Bangkok food—pad krapow, tamarind chicken wings, kanom tom, tom yum and, of course, mango sticky rice. Once you get sticky, there’s no one else to pick on.

pinky fish
Another concept comes from MBT Restaurant Management, the seafood-focused restaurant promises a “unique signature interactive tableside experience.” We’re not sure, but from the whispers we’ve heard, the menu sounds like it’s Mediterranean. Could we see plateless paella, a kind of European version of the Dampa serving ritual? We can’t wait to find out.

Greater Beirut
Also in Al Qana, which will be the fourth UAE branch of the popular Lebanese restaurant chain, led by MBT restaurant management.Group has had a busy year with new concepts Beirut-sur-Mer and cheese cheese Opening on Saadiyat Island with a grand appraisal. The brand’s reputation for authenticity, consistency and stunning interiors makes the announcement worth the excitement.

Cronfur
There isn’t much information in the public domain, but if this is the same as Kronful in Beirut, Yas Mall is getting a big dose of Levantine comfort food.
Yas Mall
Shirai Izakaya
Again, we don’t have details on that yet, but an izakaya is a boutique Japanese restaurant that usually serves sushi or street food.
Yas Mall
All (possibly over 80) new F&B outlets at Reem Mall
That’s how we got to the number 106 (to be fair, we did make it clear that this looks like a ruse in a couple of disclaimers). We haven’t confirmed opening dates for these yet, but you can check out all the latest confirmations at Our most recent completion update.
