“The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has been updating the ‘Guidelines for International Arrivals’ from time to time as part of its aggressive but graded public health response to the management of COVID-19. In the last update, based on COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 Due to the spread of virus mutations in some countries, the ministry has made it mandatory to take a COVID-19 test and upload a self-health declaration on the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s “Air Suvidha” portal before departure,” the letter read.

“However, as seen over the past 4 weeks, the trajectory of COVID-19 cases in these countries continued to decline significantly. Furthermore, according to the latest situation update on COVID-19 from the World Health Organization, there was a decline of 89% globally compared to the previous 28 days Nei noted the percentage of the number of new confirmed cases in the past 28 days. Meanwhile, India continued its downward trend with less than 100 new cases reported per day,” the letter said.

“In light of the above, the Ministry is updating its ‘Guidelines for International Arrivals’ and removing the existing pre-departure COVID-19 testing and uploading of self-health declaration requirements on the Ministry of Civil Aviation ‘Air Suvidha’ portal for those arriving from/via China, International travelers from Singapore, Hong Kong, Republic of Korea, Thailand and Japan.”

However, random testing of 2% will continue, “in order to monitor infection due to mutant variants of SARS-CoV-2 among international travelers to India, random testing is currently performed on 2% of travelers to India (regardless of origin country) of origin) India will continue upon arrival.”

The updated guidance will go into effect on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 11:00 am. (ANI)
