munich [Germany]Feb. 19 (ANI): G7 foreign ministers have agreed to continue supporting Ukraine and impose more sanctions on Russia as the ongoing conflict approaches a year, NHK World News reported.

Japan hosts a meeting of the Group of Seven nations in Munich, Germany, on Saturday, which was deliberated on the sidelines of an international security conference.

Japan holds this year’s G7 chair, and the meeting is Tokyo’s first foreign ministerial-level meeting in that capacity. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba was also invited to attend the meeting.

“I attended the G7 ministerial meeting at the invitation of Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi. Our focus is on what Ukraine needs to win in 2023. Weapons and new sanctions will be delivered quickly. Russia must realize that we will not tire of fighting back against it aggression,” Dmytro Kuleba tweeted on Saturday.

Ministers confirmed they would call on countries supporting Russia to stop doing so. They also said they would actively cooperate with Ukraine, according to NHK World News.

In addition, they reportedly condemned Russia’s continued attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure in Ukraine. They said they would hold Moscow accountable under international law, according to NHK World News.

Senior diplomats said they all believed it was important to maintain an international order based on the rule of law.

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi raised the issue of North Korea’s missile tests.

In addition, according to NHK World News, Lim said Pyongyang’s unprecedented pace of ballistic missile tests poses an imminent threat to Japan’s security and poses a serious challenge to international peace and security.

He called North Korea’s behavior completely unacceptable and said he would work closely with other G7 members to address the threat.

Lim also expressed willingness to work with the G7 on other issues, such as the situation in the Indo-Pacific region.
