Will UAE residents get paid leave for Israa Wal Miraj?

[ad_1]

Israa Wal Miraj is an Islamic calendar event celebrated on the evening of 27th 1444 Hijri, which falls on February 18th of this year. That night, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) traveled from the Al-Haram in Mecca to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

Oman and Kuwait have declared Sunday, February 19, 2023, as a holiday for public and private sector employees, news agencies in both countries reported.

The UAE, on the other hand, will not have a holiday to celebrate the occasion.

In 2019 it was announced that Israa Wal Miraj will no longer be a public holiday for UAE residents. Instead, Eid Al Adha and Eid Al Fitr holidays were extended.

The official holiday calendar approved by the UAE Cabinet sets Eid al-Fitr dates from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3. According to astronomical calculations, this will be from Thursday, April 20 to Sunday, April 23. Actual dates depend on lunar observations.

The Eid al-Fitr (Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha) holiday will be held from Tuesday 27th June to Friday 30th June.
