Bali police spokesman Satake Bayu Setianto declined to say, citing security concerns, when Strangio would be deported to Italy, where he is wanted for trafficking 160 kilograms (352 pounds) of marijuana.

Stranggio is allegedly linked to the “Ndrangheta” mafia, which Italian prosecutors believe is the most important criminal organization in the Western world.

“As far as the ‘Ndrangheta’ itself is concerned, there are special operations among European countries, and all its members are red notices and must stand trial in their respective countries,” Anggaito Hadi Prabowo, an official with the Indonesian National Police’s International Relations Division, told reporter.
