The UAE Cabinet has approved the development of the UAE Circular Economy Policy 2031 as an updated framework to achieve the country’s circular economy goals, the UAE Green Agenda 2030 and the UAE Centenary in 2071.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai chaired a cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, where Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum His Highness bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Dubai; Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; and Sheikh Mansu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidency Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The circular economy policy agenda includes 22 policies in various fields, including sustainable transport, sustainable food production and consumption, sustainable manufacturing, and green infrastructure, Wam news agency reported.
The UAE government’s 2050 Net Zero Emissions Charter was also approved by the Cabinet. The charter aims to create a unified framework between the federal government and local governments in the UAE, ensuring cooperation in adopting policies and procedures to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
