The Abu Dhabi Municipality, which is part of the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), has built 18 ramps for pedestrians and people of determination in Abu Dhabi, as part of the city’s continued efforts to improve and develop ramps. One section is designed to facilitate determined and pedestrian access to public and recreational facilities, streets and sidewalks.

The municipality confirmed that it is implementing a plan to build many ramps for sidewalks and people of determination in 25 streets of Abu Dhabi Island, as well as ramps for sidewalks on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street, in Zayed Intersection of 1st Street and Mohammed Bin Khalifa Street.

“We are proud to have recently received an international certificate from the International Handicapped Federation for the fact that the Corniche beach facilities meet the standards required by people of determination,” the municipality noted.

As part of a community initiative for people of determination to park around mosques, and to keep people of determination happy, the municipality has launched an initiative to create dedicated parking spaces for people of determination near mosques in Abu Dhabi.

In this regard, 4 car parks including ramps have been completed, information signs have been installed, 3 car parks have been maintained and 3 drop-off areas have been created for those who are determined.

The city is also working on plans to build curbs on sidewalks in Abu Dhabi Island.

The municipality added that a site survey was carried out covering Arabian Gulf Street from the Mohammed bin Khalifa Street intersection to the Corniche intersection, outward and inward.
