UAE supports Qatar’s bid to host 2026 IMF, World Bank meetings – News

During the call, Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Tamim discussed the brotherhood that exists between the two countries

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, had a telephone conversation today with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar.

During the call, Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Tamim discussed the fraternal relationship that exists between the two countries and explored areas for further cooperation. The leaders of the two countries also exchanged views on some regional and international issues of common concern.

Sheikh Mohammed reiterated the UAE’s support for Qatar’s hosting of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank, and confirmed that the UAE will withdraw its request to host the meeting. The UAE President wished the Emir and the people of Qatar a successful global event.

The Emir of Qatar expressed his gratitude to the UAE President and expressed his sincere appreciation for the UAE’s position towards the State of Qatar and its support for its candidacy to host the IMF and World Bank meetings.
