Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi signs MoU with EAD

ABU DHABI – Under the Go Green 2023 initiative of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, the initiative aims to encourage students, faculty and staff to participate in creating a more sustainable future and focuses on raising awareness of climate change issues, developing An initiative for environmental challenges, the university has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency (EAD) to promote sustainable practices. The agreement will cover cooperation in the fields of environmental research needs, research, knowledge exchange and development, covering a wide range of environment-related disciplines.

The MoU was signed at a signing ceremony at EAD headquarters by Prof. Silvia Serrano, Vice-Chancellor, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, and HE Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of Abu Dhabi Environment Agency.

Under the MOU, the two organizations will conduct environmental research to systematically identify and fill gaps in scientific knowledge in understanding the emirate of Abu Dhabi’s environmental systems and their interactions with social and economic systems. In addition, the two organizations will collaborate on research, knowledge exchange and visits to research facilities and sites of scientific interest.

The MoU will lead to the establishment of joint research projects, sharing of resources and development of innovative solutions to address environmental challenges in the region. Additionally, it will provide the University with the opportunity to contribute to the development of evidence-based policymaking and initiatives for sustainable development and environmental protection in Abu Dhabi.
