Mubadala Arena to host 2023 AJP Tour Abu Dhabi International Jiu-Jitsu Championships from 17-19 March

Abu Dhabi: The Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City will host the 2023 Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Professional Circuit Abu Dhabi International Jiu-Jitsu Championships from 17-19 March.

The competitions are open to clubs and academies around the world and will feature children’s, youth, amateur, professional and masters divisions.

The three-day tournament is jointly organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and the AJP, and is the second set of events for the AJP’s 2023 season. The first was the AJP No-Gi Abu Dhabi International Jiu-Jitsu Championships held last month.

Youssef Abdullah Al-Batran, Member of the Board of Directors of UAEJJF, said: “The AJP Championships are an important part of the tournament calendar during the current sporting season, helping to highlight the wealth of fresh talent aiming to build successful careers.

“The increase in registrations for the event is a testament to the effectiveness of the UAEJJF’s initiatives to grow the sport, broaden the pool of participants and strengthen Abu Dhabi’s status as the Jiu-Jitsu capital of the world.

“We have worked hard to provide our young athletes with the perfect environment to engage with the greatest players from clubs and academies around the world, hone their skills and improve their preparation for major international competitions.”

AJP General Manager Tariq Al-Bahri said: “The AJP events in the UAE, as well as our 150 international championships, are gaining even greater support as they continue to enhance players’ skills, career development and provide rigorous competition among participants.

“These will have a major impact on the UAE and the capital, Abu Dhabi, in cementing its position as a global sports hub and popular destination for champions around the world,” he added.

The competition will take place on March 17th, the first day of competition, in the Infants (Grey, Yellow and Orange) and Juniors (Grey, Yellow, Orange and Green) divisions.

Competition will continue on Saturday with Junior and Junior (blue and purple), Men’s Masters (blue, purple, brown and black) and Masters Division II (blue, purple, brown and black) divisions .
