Abu Dhabi: Manchester City legend Joleon Lescott recently shared his passion for health and fitness with the children of Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, who participated in classroom and practical football lessons as part of Manchester City and Healthpoint’s healthy lifestyle programme.
The visit to Cranleigh Abu Dhabi is the latest addition to an already successful healthy lifestyle programme, a unique collaboration between Healthpoint and Manchester City who are both passionate about promoting the benefits of physical and mental health and believe in the power of movement to encourage young people to choose active lifestyle.
free health education
Since its launch in 2017, the Healthy Lifestyles program has provided free health education to over 12,500 students across the UAE. Designed by health and wellbeing experts, the program teaches children about the importance of physical fitness, nutrition, sleep and self-esteem through a combination of practical and theoretical lessons delivered by Manchester City coaches.
Lescott and Healthpoint specialist pediatrician Dr Maurice Khoury traveled to Cranleigh Abu Dhabi to teach. Participants learned how their current lifestyle choices can contribute to healthier, happier lives as they age.
Commenting on the visit, Lescott said: “It was fantastic to be able to take part in the Cranley Abu Dhabi Healthy Lifestyle Programme, you can really see how invaluable the lessons are for the kids. They really Know their stuff well, talk about the importance of hydration and nutrition, and get really excited about making good lifestyle choices. The work the club and Healthpoint are doing is going to be really good at encouraging healthy growth for the younger generation in the area.”

The program continues to be run weekly in Abu Dhabi by the Manchester City coach, with two further exciting visits, including special guests, before the end of the school year.
Dr Khoury said: “Healthpoint has always put health first through education and learning. Our aim is to teach these values from a very young age. Having star players and the Manchester City football team behind us in our pursuit means we can help Positive social impact. The kids are excited to learn how to take better care of their health. Their enthusiasm translates into productive meetings and we are able to network well.”
Manchester City and Healthpoint have been strategic partners since 2014. They collaborate closely on public outreach programs and knowledge exchange. The partners will continue to run healthy lifestyle programs to encourage children across the UAE to lead healthy and active lifestyles and gain access to information on healthy habits.
