The vaccine developed by CSPC has been approved for “emergency use” BeijingThe company said in a statement to health regulators.
It showed high efficacy in a trial where it was used as a booster shot in people who had received other types of vaccines, the company added, without giving further details.
mRNA vaccines are considered one of the most effective vaccines for reducing severe infections and deaths.
While traditional vaccines use weakened or killed bacteria to prepare the body for a future attack by a real virus, mRNA deploys snippets of genetic material that carry instructions to show the body’s cells how to make proteins—in this case, stimulus. The spike protein is located on the coronavirus that causes Covid.

The body’s immune system then triggers antibodies against the spike protein, preparing it for an actual coronavirus attack.

Its undervaccination is widely believed to have led to more infections and deaths after the abrupt lifting of lockdown and mandatory quarantine rules in December.
Other Chinese drugmakers include CanSino It has previously said they are developing an mRNA-based vaccine to help the country close its immunity gap.
