Conor Benn ‘to face Chris Eubank Jr.’ in Abu Dhabi on June 3, opponents to reschedule

[ad_1]

  • Benn prepares to reignite his family’s feud with Eubanks in October
  • until he tested positive for clomiphene before the showdown
  • The couple are now expected to reschedule their canceled scrap in the Middle East

Connorburn and Chris Eubank Jr. They are reportedly close to rescheduling a canceled hate match in Abu Dhabi on June 3.

Last October, Benn and Eubank would continue their family’s iconic rivalry, only to have the match called off at the 11th hour after the former failed a drug test later on.

Days before the eagerly anticipated showdown, Sportsmail revealed Benn tests positive for testosterone-stimulating substance clomiphene, forcing promoter Eddie Hearn to pull the plug. It was later discovered that he also failed a separate test for the same substance in early 2022.

While he remains under UK Anti-Doping investigations, meaning he cannot compete on these shores as the threat of a two-year ban remains looming, the 26-year-old Free boxing in foreign countries Cleared of intentional doping by WBC.

Hearn told Sportsmail last week His preference is to reschedule the Ben vs. Eubank fightthough both Kyle Brook and Manny Pacquiao are hoping to clash with the welterweight star.

and according to sunthe second generation of Scrap is now scheduled to take place in the Middle East this summer.

While first agreeing to cut his weight to 157 pounds, Eubank is believed to have insisted on keeping the rescheduled bout at his natural middleweight limit of 160 pounds following his rival’s drug controversy.

Unlike in October, Eubank entered his modified date with Benn on the back of a loss — one of the most brutal of his career.

The 33-year-old was knocked out for the first time by Liam Smith in January, losing to his fellow Briton in a fourth-round stoppage.

Not long after Eubank revealed on social media that he had activated his return clause, he now looks poised to renege on that agreement and set his sights on Benn.

It is believed that Sky Sports and Boxxer, who promoted Smith, have never received official confirmation from Eubank or his Sauerland promotion team.

The riches from Abu Dhabi’s fight against his arch-rival could dwarf any financial penalty for breaching his rematch obligations with Smith, making their rescheduled clash a more attractive option.

Eubank slammed Benn on social media after his recent interview with Piers Morgan, claiming he was “100%” sure he knowingly took performance-enhancing drugs, while accusing him of “playing the victim”.

He tweeted: “I’m 99% sure @ConorNigel is a liar, but after watching @piersmorgan’s interview, I’m now 100% sure.

‘Imagine failing a drug test twice and then trying to play the victim! ? This kid’s ball! Or should I say…eggs on him’.

Ben quickly replied: “You’re sitting there trying to play the victim and trying to blackmail me for £1million. You fucking house.

Hearn told Sportsmail last week that the pair still abuse each other on a daily basis and he fears it will be a hindrance to a fight.

“The fight I still love is the Chris Eubank fight because these two are now privately swearing at each other every day and it’s led to a huge promotion,” said the Matchroom chief.

“Obviously, part of me wants to see that game after the last defeat. So we’ve had a couple of offers for Connor Benn to play internationally and for me I’d prefer Chris Eubank Jr. , but we’ll have to see what happens in the next few days.
