An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 hits the coast of the Far East Russia On Monday, Russia’s emergency services ministry said there was no tsunami and there were no immediate casualties or damage.

The quake struck about 44 kilometers (27 miles) south of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on Russia’s Pacific coast at a depth of 100 kilometers, according to the Emergencies Ministry.
Video released by media outlets in Kamchatka, about 6,800 kilometers east of Moscow, showed some cracks in buildings and bottles in a supermarket were smashed after collapsing in the quake, but there was no immediate major structural damage.

“An action team of rescue workers and firefighters is inspecting the building,” the emergency ministry said. “Based on preliminary information, there were no casualties or damage.”

The Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Survey of the Russian Academy of Sciences said the quake had a magnitude of 6.9.
The European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) initially said the quake had a magnitude of 6.6.
The U.S. Tsunami Warning System said there was no tsunami warning following the quake.
