Schneider Electric partners with DSO to develop electric vehicle solutions

Schneider Electric, a leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, is setting up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at its regional headquarters in Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), an integrated free zone technology park and member of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zone Management Bureau (DIEZ).

A statement from the company said it was part of its efforts to encourage adoption of electric vehicle solutions by electric vehicle users, as well as green vehicle solutions by employees.

Following the installation of EV charging stations, Schneider Electric’s DSO facility is expected to provide all EV owners with more than 300,000 km of driving range per year, reducing an estimated 40,000 kg of CO2 directly emitted by vehicles, it said.

Regarding the new EV station, Ashraf Abdelkhalek, Head of Sustainability at Schneider Electric Gulf, said: “We expect more Schneider Electric employees to switch to EVs to benefit from the EV charging infrastructure within our DSO. This is in line with our A program to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles. Electric vehicle solutions.”

“Demand for EVs in the UAE market has grown steadily over the past few years and is expected to reach a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 30 percent by 2028,” he said, citing the Global EV Readiness Index, which will be released in 2022. .

“This move is also in line with our global sustainability goals to achieve carbon neutrality by 2025 and net-zero CO2 emissions across our value chain by 2050,” Abdelkhalek said.

“Our aim is to have all our facilities in the UAE and Qatar equipped with EV chargers. In addition to enabling EV charging infrastructure within our premises, we are working on policies to encourage more employees to adopt green mobility solutions ,” he added.

Nawaf Al Khater, Senior Director of Planning and Design at DIEZ, said: “In the Middle East, the UAE is leading the way in sustainable development of the transport sector with a goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050 and currently ranks eighth globally for readiness. Electric car.”

“DSO is committed to supporting the expansion of the use of electric vehicles in its community and in Dubai and the UAE more broadly,” he noted.

“We are delighted to welcome Schneider Electric to our range of partners to contribute to the UAE’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050,” he said.
