james corden late night show K-pop group BTS has apologized for upsetting fans of K-pop group BTS after misquoting an achievement by Blackpink.The group is the latest guest to appear Carpool Karaoke.
In the episode, James mentions that they were the first K-pop group to reach number one on the US album chart. BTS fans were quick to point out the incorrect information, saying it was too vague.
While Blackpink were the first K-pop girl group to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, they came in at No. 4 overall, behind BTS, SuperM and Stray Kids. They criticized James and his team for not taking the proper time to research and erasing BTS’ achievements.
The show quickly issued an apology on their Twitter, writing: “Great, we made a mistake last night during our BLACKPINK carpool karaoke.
We mistakenly gave James a card that said BLACKPINK was the first K-POP group to hit #1 on the US album chart, and that honor went to BTS. Of course, BLACKPINK is the first female K-POP group to accomplish this feat.
Sorry for the mistake. We love these two incredible groups and their fans! “
