Dubai Police Crack Airport Drug Ring in Weeks-Long Operation
A Dubai airport drug trafficker who thought he’d found a clever loophole is now behind bars after a lengthy Dubai Police operation.
The suspect had been using Dubai International Airport‘s transit area to run an international drug deal, believing that staying in transit rather than formally entering the UAE would keep him out of reach of local law.
He was wrong. Anti-narcotics officers quietly tracked his movements, meetings and communications for 45 days before finally arresting him as he moved to collect a hidden drug shipment.
Brigadier Khaled bin Muwaiza, Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police, described the operation as a long and patient effort that paid off.
He made it clear that the airport’s transit zone falls fully under UAE jurisdiction, just like any other entry point into the country, and cannot be used as a safe zone for illegal activity.
The case is a strong reminder that UAE airports, no matter how busy or transient, remain closely monitored. Dubai Police continue to encourage the public to report suspicious activity through their official channels.
