New Delhi [India]April 27 (ANI): India has deployed its third naval vessel, the INS Tarkash, for evacuation operations in conflict-ridden Sudan, Foreign Minister Vinay Mohan Kwatra said on Thursday.

“I have been informed that a third ship, the INS Tarkash, has also arrived in Port Sudan today as part of our efforts,” Kwatra said.
Briefing the media on the progress of the rescue operation in Sudan, the Foreign Secretary said: “Two naval vessels have also been positioned as part of the Indian government’s efforts. The INS Sumedha was the first vessel to dock, receive, roughly 300 yesterday. Multiple Indians took them to Jeddah Port, and today they returned to Port Sudan to pick up the next batch of Indians and take them to a safe port.”

Kwatra said the Indian government was working to rescue Indians from Sudan, including setting up control rooms in India and Sudan.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a high-level meeting where he personally vetted and directed Indian government officials to take appropriate steps to assist and bring back these stranded Indians,” Kwatra said.
