Emirates airline will expand its network in China in the coming months after the world’s most populous country opened up to international travel for the first time in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

China, one of the world’s top tourist destinations, opened to foreign tourists on March 15 after imposing a three-year travel ban due to the pandemic.

Speaking ahead of the 30th Arabian Travel Market 2023, Emirates Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim said Dubai’s flag carrier has a fleet of more than 200 aircraft flying to more than 140 destinations with a weekly deployment of Nearly 1.3 million seats.

He added that the airline was increasing capacity on the Airbus A380.

“As the Chinese market is recovering, we are putting capacity back into China. Today, we are operating more than 3,080 flights a week, which equates to 440 flights a day from Dubai Airport,” he added. Deploy the world’s largest passenger plane to Beijing from 1st June; Bali from 1st June; Shanghai from 4th June; Birmingham from 1st July and Taipei from August.

Earlier this week, Emirates announced a new daily service to Montreal starting July 5, using Boeing 777-300Rs.

Emirates has earmarked a $2 billion budget to upgrade in-flight products, primarily starting with the A380, and will continue upgrading the Boeing 777 once the A380 program is complete.

“We have retrofitted 12 A380s with premium economy and deployed them to five destinations. By the end of summer we will have another 17 A380s with premium economy products,” Kazim added.

Emirates will also announce a new codeshare partnership agreement during the Arabian Travel Market, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Center from 1-4 May.
