Obtaining a driving license in the UAE is a top priority for most expats. While most residents must pass multiple tests before being issued a driver’s license, there are a few countries where license holders are exempt from testing and allowed to drive in the country.
The Ministry of the Interior (MoI) provides a service to facilitate the exchange of driving licenses within the ‘Markhoos’ scheme. It grants tourists the right to drive with their national driver’s license or exchange it with a UAE driver’s license if they hold a residence permit.
According to the list published on the MoI website, license holders from these 43 countries can exchange their national license for a UAE license:
