Abu Dhabi [United Arab Emirates]2 May (ANI/WAM): Abu Dhabi has been named the smartest city in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for 2023 for the third year in a row, according to the IMD Smart City Index, published by the International Institute of Management, in partnership with the Singapore University of Technology and Design ( SUTD) developed in Switzerland in cooperation with (IMD).
The International Institute for Management Development (IMD) has released its annual study on smart city development, surveying 120 residents of 118 cities around the world. Abu Dhabi surpasses several international capitals and ranks 13th globally out of 141 cities in the current ranking.
The study assessed the infrastructure and digital services currently available to residents, relying on variables related to residents’ perceptions and interactions with government efforts across five main pillars: health and safety, mobility, activities, opportunities (jobs and education) system) and governance.
Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), expressed pride that Abu Dhabi has been named the smartest city in the region.
He said: “Abu Dhabi’s leadership in this area reflects the leadership’s vision and commitment to support the digital transformation journey and use it to serve the community, improving its well-being and quality of life. Next-generation technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), and smart city initiatives across various social, service and economic sectors, including public and smart transport, Abu Dhabi has been able to establish itself as a smart and sustainable city, and One of the best destinations in the world to live, work and visit.”
