Tongi collapsed in the finale during a duet with singer James Blunt on “Monsters.” The young singer wiped away tears as he and Blunt sang, “I’m not your son and you’re not my father/We’re just two adults saying goodbye.”
Blunt is one of several stars, including Pit Bull, Ellie Goulding, Lil Jon, Kylie Minogue, REO Speedwagon and TLC, who appear in the three-hour finale.
Tongi won a recording contract as part of his “American Idol” prize. After the confetti dropped to declare the winner, he performed Spawnbreezie’s “Don’t Let Go,” and his contestants flocked to congratulate him.
