New Delhi [India]15th June (ANI): India, Greece conducted a comprehensive review of all aspects of bilateral relations during the 13th foreign ministry consultation and discussed enhanced cooperation in trade, defence, culture, people-to-people relations and consular issues, including fluidity.

The 13th foreign ministry consultation between India and Greece was held in Athens on June 14. The consultations were co-chaired by Sanjay Verma, Secretary (West) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) and Haris Lalacos, Secretary General of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

MEA Secretary (West) Sanjay Verma tweeted on Wednesday: “Great to co-chair the 13th FOC in Athens with my Greek counterpart Sec Gen @Hlalacos. On trade, defence, culture, consular & mobility as well as regional & multilateral Meaningful dialogue develops. Relationship strengthened.”

During the consultation, the two sides appreciated the steady growth of bilateral trade and agreed to expand into new areas. According to the MEA release, the importance of regular bilateral political exchanges to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries was also highlighted.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and multilateral issues of common concern, such as the conflict in Ukraine, India’s presidency of the G20, cooperation in multilateral forums, the reform of the UN Security Council, and the development of their respective surrounding areas.

It is expected that the consultations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will further promote the development of bilateral relations. According to an official release, both parties agreed to hold the next meeting in New Delhi in 2024, at a time convenient for both parties. (Arnie)
