Emirates News Agency – Abu Dhabi Arabic Center participates in Beijing International Book Fair

ABU DHABI, 16th June, 2023 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Arabic Center, ALC, under the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, DCT Abu Dhabi, has announced its participation in the 29th Beijing International Book Fair, which will It was held by China National Book Import and Export (Group) Corporation on June 18 at the Capital National Convention Center.

The center’s events will introduce its publishing and translation initiatives to Chinese audiences, and ALC representatives will seek new partnerships to help achieve its goals of advancing the Arabic language in all areas and promoting local and global Arabic content production.

“The Beijing International Book Fair is one of the most important cultural events in the world, bringing together publishing professionals and creators from around the world,” said ALC Chairman Dr. Ali bin Tamim. “The long-standing cultural relationship between China and the UAE has led to the prominent presence of the Arabic language in China, and this fair is an important platform for ALC to explore opportunities for projects and initiatives in the country and further our aim to advance the Arabic language globally.”

During the exhibition, ALC will participate in a series of activities, including meetings with prominent figures in the Chinese publishing industry and influential leaders in the cultural world. The center delegation will also attend seminars, participate in the Beijing International Publishing Conference, and visit the Arabia Pavilion and the Silk Road Publishers Pavilion.

Each year, more than 2,600 exhibitors from more than 100 countries attend Beijing International Book Fair, where delegates discuss copyright deals for foreign books, multimedia digital content and ways to promote reading. The content of the activities covers many fields such as books, digitization, animation and other knowledge and cultural industries.

China’s participation in Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2022 includes the participation of 50 Chinese government-affiliated publishing houses, including academic, literary and educational publishers, as well as others specializing in children’s books. A high-level delegation of 40 people, including officials, publishers, writers and intellectuals, made outstanding contributions to the various projects of the exhibition.
