“This is an unbelievably tragic and shocking incident,” park spokeswoman Annika Troselius told SVT. “Unfortunately, we have learned of one death and many injuries. “
Seven people, including children and adults, were taken to hospital after the crash, police said.
The amusement park was evacuated to allow rescue workers to work.
SVT reporter Jenny Lagerstedt, who was waiting in line for another ride, said the carriage had fallen from a height with passengers inside.
“Suddenly I heard a metallic thud and the ride started shaking,” she said. Rescuers had to remove other passengers who were trapped in other carriages of the roller coaster after the crash. (Associated Press)
