Emirates News Agency – Registration opens for 2023-24 Zayed Cricket Academy season

ABU DHABI, 27th June, 2023 (WAM) — After another successful season, the Zayed Cricket Academy, ZCA, is preparing for its 2023-24 campaign, which will take place on 4th September. Start at the Abu Dhabi Cricket and Sports Center (ADCSH) for a 12 player – week 1st semester course.

Program registration is now open, with a 10% discount for Hari Raya Early Bird Offer, valid until 3 July. The ZCA program has also been expanded and the academy now operates 7 days a week.

“We are stepping up our program to bring more freshman players, both boys and girls, into the exciting game of cricket from the junior stages, while ensuring that elite players can develop their talents and ambitions and hopefully Continue to represent Team Abu Dhabi and the UAE national team,” explained ADCSH CEO Matt Boucher.

“Our academy members can be assured of access to world-class coaching and the best competition and competition. The ZCA has made remarkable progress over the past year and now has a very clear and structured articulation plan – for both boys and Girls range from six years to 19. We have fine-tuned our performance pathways to ensure a community-focused, fun-first environment for all.

“We are encouraged by our success last year, with over 250 juniors, including 25 girls, playing cricket at the ZCA. Our girls’ program has been expanded for next season and we aim to have a girls’ team by the end of next year To play in the Abu Dhabi team.”

ZCA is now firmly established as the UAE’s premier cricket academy and continues to break new ground for the country’s young players. This was highlighted last season with the official launch of the ADCSH Players Pathway scheme, which offers players in the capital a route from grassroots cricket to the UAE senior national team.

A number of academy players have gone on to represent the UAE in age group cricket. Ethan D’Souza, 17, has been with ZCA since the age of seven, breaking through the U19s earlier this year before graduating to the UAE senior team. Ethan, now a local sporting role model, made his debut against the West Indies before earning the UAE’s call-up for the ICC World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe.

The ZCA hopefuls start at U6 and work their way up to U19, along with a chance at adult cricket with Abu Dhabi.
