King Charles Hires Women of Color for Top Jobs

[ad_1]

Newly crowned King Charles III has hired a person of color as his personal security assistant, marking a royal first.

It is said that this is the first time that the most senior position in the palace has been held by an ethnic minority.

A source told the outlet the move appeared to be a conscious effort to go beyond “normal white British male parameters”.

The British civil servant is said to be joining another new staff member, whom the Mail on Sunday has named Nathan Ross. She was a member of the New Zealand government.

Dr Ross will reportedly advise the 74-year-old monarch on the Commonwealth and sustainable development.

Both new royals will serve as the monarch’s main source of advice and will focus on government, constitutional and political matters.

According to the job advertisement, the position requires “a good understanding of current national and international events”.

Palace has raised its target to 14% by 2025, although the 10% target has so far not been met, the Express reported. An official working at the Forbidden City said they were “working hard to make sure our culture is inclusive. We are not where we want to be and are committed to making progress.”

The annual Sovereign Appropriation Report also revealed that 16.3 per cent of the staff of the Prince and Princess of Wales come from ethnic minority backgrounds.
