Abu Dhabi Customs shares its digital system experience globally

Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Customs Administration recently reviewed its experience in implementing international best practices at two World Customs Organization (WCO) international conferences.

Abu Dhabi Customs participated in the WCO Human Capital Management Global Conference held at the organization’s headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, from 10 to 11 October, and the WCO Technical Conference, held in Maastricht, the Netherlands, from 18 to 20 October, Hosted by the Netherlands Customs – Showcasing its practice of applying cloud systems in human resource management, as well as the digital development process of Abu Dhabi Customs.

WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya received the delegation led by Fahad Ghareeb Al Shamsi, Executive Director of Support Services.

Enhancing Security, Facilitating Trade

Mikuriya congratulates Abu Dhabi Customs for introducing the world to its excellence in developing services that supports its strategic vision to be the “leading customs authority in the world”, leading change and striving to enhance security, facilitate trade and provide exceptional service, This enhances Abu Dhabi’s prestige globally as a prime destination for investment and business.

Dr. Ibrahim Al Khaja, Director of Human Resources, reviewed Abu Dhabi Customs’ innovative digital experience at the World Customs Organization Human Capital Management Global Conference, which was attended by more than 1,200 people from 175 countries, including the organization’s member Customs Administration, representing the private sector, universities and other international organizations.

Dr. Al Khaja participated in a session entitled “Future of Work and Workplace Innovation for Employee Well-being in the Digital Age”.

During the meeting, he emphasized the importance of human capital as an engine of economic development. He highlighted Abu Dhabi Customs’ efforts to strengthen services and support human cadres in the strategic transformation process, implementing full automation of human capital management through digital transformation, and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies to humans. In addition, he recalled the importance of applying automation at the human resources, administration and technology development level of the General Administration of Customs, as Abu Dhabi Customs is the first government agency in the world to implement the Oracle Digital Assistant and the first government agency in the Middle East Implement a complete Oracle HCM Cloud Suite project with analytics.

In turn, Khaled Al Marzouqi, Director of Strategic Planning and Development, Abu Dhabi Customs, and Dr. Ibrahim Al Khaja, Director of Human Resources, attended the 2022 WCO Technical Conference and Exhibition in Maastricht, with 1,200 attendees from 136 participants in each country.

In a session titled “Facilitating Trade with New Technology Solutions: A Customs Success Story”, Al Marzouqi presented Abu Dhabi Customs’ digital transformation strategy, as well as the benefits and risks of working in a cloud environment.

He reviewed the Directorate General’s experience in adopting cloud environment solutions and digital transformation, leveraging digital technologies to improve main and support services, ensuring the implementation of integrated systems to support data management and information security, and continuing to develop technical infrastructure to support operational integration and improve manpower the availability of capital.
