An Emirati oud player performs for patients at the Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi as part of an initiative to integrate the power of music and art into the healing process.

‘Music in Hospital’ is an annual initiative of the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (Admaf) to enhance the therapeutic role of music in healthcare settings.

Extensive research has demonstrated the positive impact on patient recovery rates and well-being, and the program provides music recitals for patients, families and hospital staff to create an atmosphere of comfort and support during hospital stays.

“ADMAF’s hospital music program, now in its 14th year, reflects our continued commitment to harnessing the power of music and the arts to encourage recovery and enhance well-being,” said Huda Alkami, Founder, Founder and Artistic Director, ADMAF Said Huda Alkhamis-Kanoo Abu Dhabi Music Festival.

Supported by Dolphin Energy, this year’s event featured a series of fascinating performances over three days by talented Emirati oud players Shamsa Al Jasmi and Said Al Ali.

“With the generous support of our educational partner, Dolphin Energy, we reaffirm our collective efforts to empower communities and create profound social impact. Musical performances by some of our nation’s most talented musicians demonstrate the power of music in aiding the healing process Profoundly healing and underscores our dedication to fostering a sense of inclusion in our community.”

Shamsa’s recitals are closed-door sessions for women patients and their families, designed to maximize the impact of music therapy. The intimacy and interactivity of these recitals are designed to foster a deeper connection between musician and patient, creating a deeply uplifting experience.

Admaf hosted an open session in the waiting area of the CCAD Clinic lobby where Ali’s extraordinary talent captivated the audience. The soothing performance is open to outpatients, nursing staff, hospital staff, family members and visitors, allowing a wider audience to benefit from the healing melodies.
