Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation celebrates winners…

The Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF) commemorated the 2022 winners in the fields of Art, Design and Sustainability at an awards ceremony held at the Emirates Palace on Wednesday, March 1.

The list of UAE winners includes artist and Zayed University graduate Ameena Aljarman, who won the Gulf Capital – ADMAF Visual Arts Award for her digital video work “My Grandmother Ameena’s Wish”; playwright Hamdan bin Shfayan Alameri, with his play “2071 Room No. 1 Gulf Capital – ADMAF Creativity Award; American University of Sharjah Architecture graduate Maitha Al Hammadi, whose project “Agro-Industrial Tourism” won the TotalEnergies Design Award for Sustainability; and jewelry designer and Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation Students Asma Almarri and Media Alfalasi won the 2022 ADMAF Design Fund Award, and their earmuffs ‘Osha’ received support from L’Ecole Van Cleef and Arpels.

The awards were presented by His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance. Gulf Capital – ADMAF Creativity Awards was launched in 2006 to recognize the creativity of Emirati youth in the visual and performing arts, literature and film. The award was awarded to playwright Hamdan bin Shfayan Alameri for his play “Room 2071,” which depicts the challenges faced by scholarship students in fulfilling the goals and aspirations desired by their families and society pressure.

Launched in 2013, the Gulf Capital Abu Dhabi Arts Festival Visual Arts Awards recognize outstanding creativity in the UAE in the visual arts, performing arts, literature, animation and film. The 2022 award goes to artist Ameena Aljarman, whose digital video work “My Grandmother Ameena’s Wishes” is a visual narrative exploring the journey her grandmother passed down to her family.

This year’s award went to Emirati jewelry designers Asma Almarri and Media Alfalasi, whose ‘Osha’ earrings pay homage to Emirati heritage with a unique design that emits an oud scent when touched.

About L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelery Arts:

L’ÉCOLE Academy of Jewelery Arts was established in 2012 with the support of Van Cleef & Arpels to introduce the public to various aspects of jewelery culture. It is a school of initiation, open to everyone, without special prerequisites: beginners as well as enlightened amateurs, collectors and those curious about the world of jewelry.
