Abu Dhabi scholarship applications open

Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has opened applications for this year’s Abu Dhabi Scholarships, an annual program designed to provide outstanding Emirati students with a unique way.

The application deadline is 31st March 2023 and is open to high-performing UAE Year 12/Year 13 students and undergraduates aged 24 and under to fulfill their academic potential and contribute to the continued development of priority industries after graduation.

With 30 new majors, students who meet program criteria can choose from 82 majors in elite and creative majors. New majors include:

  • drug,
  • entrepreneurial innovation,
  • landscape garden,
  • User Experience (UX) Design,
  • Web Design,
  • fashion design,
  • music and performing arts,
  • computer game production (eGaming),
  • culinary arts,
  • journalism,
  • Among other things.

“As part of an ongoing development process that takes place each year, we conduct a detailed analysis and review of our diverse scholarship program to identify key areas for improvement and ensure that the program’s outcomes are aligned with the needs of the national economy,” said Dr. Bashaer Almatrooshi said, Executive Director of Talent Support at ADEK.

“We are open to applications from creative thinkers, determined achievers, ambitious learners and relentless explorers; our aim is to empower them to fulfill their potential.

Almatrooshi added: “We are committed to developing the UAE’s cadres to lead the future across growth sectors, and the introduction of new specializations within our creative stream reflects our continued commitment to support these national priorities.”

Perfect support system

Students also benefit from internship opportunities with more than 100 industry-specific partners as they pursue majors that align with the human capital needs of priority industries.

Program career advisors will also assist graduates with post-study career placement.

In addition to full scholarships, successful applicants will benefit from academic advising and long-term career development support.

Dedicated advisors will support students during their studies, while ADEK advisors will follow up students throughout their university journey and work on five main pillars – social welfare, academic guidance, career guidance, alumni services and job opportunities – provide support for them.

Successful students will also benefit from a book allowance, health insurance, travel costs, a monthly stipend to cover housing costs and a high performer bonus.

Application conditions

Elite program applications are open for Year 12/Year 13 students with a Semester 1 average of 90% or higher in their current year and a final Year 11/12 average of 85% or higher. Students wishing to continue their studies Creative students must have a final grade point average of 85% in Year 12/13 and must submit a portfolio and two letters of recommendation.

Students must also achieve a minimum of 6.0 in IELTS or 60 in TOEFL iBT and submit an unconditional offer of admission to one of the world’s top 150 universities accredited by ADEK.

Current college students 24 years of age and younger majoring in one of the approved majors at an ADEK-accredited university ranked in the top 150 may also apply to the program provided they earn a GPA of at least 3.0 or its equivalent and complete at least 30 college credits at the time of application Reach IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 60 or above.

Students admitted to any of the top 20 universities accredited by ADEK are eligible for the Fast Track Scholarship Option, which bypasses the eligibility requirements and is shortlisted immediately.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) is the education sector regulator for the entire emirate. It oversees and provides services throughout the learner’s journey from early education to university and beyond. It also supports the inclusion of people of determination in the mainstream education system by providing specialist schools.
