Two medical facilities in Abu Dhabi have been ordered to temporarily close due to irregularities, UAE health authorities announced on Tuesday.
Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health (DoH) said in its briefing that the two facilities failed to follow safety procedures and infection control measures. They were found to have used expired materials and tools and did not comply with standards and regulations for medical waste disposal and storage of blood units.
The Ministry of Health said the decision was made primarily to protect the health and safety of patients and to allow facilities to take necessary actions.
Inspectors will revisit the facilities to ensure correctional procedures are being applied properly, the department added.
The authorities called on all healthcare facilities operating in the emirate to comply with their policies and regulations and provide healthcare in accordance with international best practice.
