Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has announced a partnership with Advance HE to invest in faculty development and ensure the successful implementation of ADU’s employment strategy. Advance HE is a UK-based, member-led, industry-owned charity working with higher education institutions around the world to improve higher education for staff, students and society. Together, the two entities will develop a strategy focused on embedding graduate attributes valued by employers into the curriculum. This is then reinforced by student involvement in extra-curricular activities to ensure students develop the necessary future work skills to enhance their employability.
ADU aims to improve the quality of teaching by enhancing the teaching and learning leadership skills of university teachers. In partnership with Advance HE Fellowship, a range of initiatives has been launched to meet the personal development needs of entry-level teachers to senior managers. Advance HE Fellowship demonstrates the commitment of individuals and institutions to professionalism in higher education learning and teaching. The scholarships are divided into four categories, reflecting the journey of an academic career from being an outstanding individual teacher to providing strategic leadership in institutional teaching and learning. These categories include Associate Investigators (AFHEA), Investigators (FHEA), Senior Investigators (SFHEA) and Principal Investigators (PFHEA). The first phase of the collaboration has resulted in 28 ADU faculty members being certified as Senior Fellows, with three Senior Scholars being certified as Senior Fellows and the Vice Provost being certified as a Principal Fellow.

ADU is an international visiting member of Advance HE and has worked together through several courses over the years to build capacity to learn and teach. In working towards scholarships supported by the Professional Standards Framework, faculty employ a reflective approach to teaching and are committed to continuously improving their careers through scholarship and impacting students with the academic knowledge they need.
