As the UAE braces for continued rains and thunderstorms, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) issued a call on Thursday for private companies to implement flexible work arrangements on Friday, November 17.
Prioritizing Safety in Outdoor Work
The ministry’s advisory stressed the need for companies to take necessary measures to ensure that essential outdoor work aligns with occupational health and safety requirements. The emphasis was also placed on safeguarding the health and well-being of workers commuting to and from outdoor work locations.
Remote Learning in Ras Al Khaimah
In response to heavy rains battering Ras Al Khaimah, government schools in the emirate announced the shift to remote classes. Concurrently, crisis management teams were placed on high alert to address potential challenges arising from the inclement weather.
Varied Weather Expectations
The forecast predicts lightning, thunder, and varying intensities of rain over the country’s east, north, and coastal areas in the next two days.
Past Initiatives for Challenging Weather
This advisory follows a similar initiative approximately three weeks ago when the UAE experienced a 28-day spell of rain. During that period, Mohre had urged companies to adopt flexible work patterns for a day, underscoring the importance of ensuring employee safety and well-being during adverse weather conditions.
