After the US withdraws, the UAE will stop its withdrawal from Afghanistan-News

[ad_1]

Officials from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the security situation at the airport was “damaged” and the UAE was “concerned”.

A senior official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said on Thursday that the UAE will stop its withdrawal from Kabul on August 31 due to the deterioration of the security situation at the airport.

The latest intelligence report from the United Kingdom warned that a “serious and imminent terrorist attack” occurred at the airport, and thousands of Afghans have been trying to flee the country after the Taliban took over.

Armed Forces Minister James Shipper said there are “very credible” reports of a “serious” threat in the capital.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned anyone near the airport to move to a safe place last night, awaiting further advice.

Officials from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the security situation at the airport was “damaged” and the UAE was “concerned”.

At a press conference on Thursday, he said that the UAE has temporarily hosted a total of 8,500 Afghan citizens. Among the evacuees currently living in the UAE Humanitarian City, 30% are children, 30% are men, and 40% are women. The official said that some Covid positive cases are isolated. Those who were injured were hospitalized and received free treatment. The official added that after landing in the UAE, one of the Afghan women also gave birth. He said that the UAE is taking good care of the people and providing them with housing, sanitation and medical facilities.

He said that after the Taliban regained control of the country, the UAE coordinated with the United States to help evacuate more than 36,500 people, including Afghan civilians.

Afra Al Hameli, Deputy Director of Strategic Communications of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said on Twitter on August 24 that “As of today, the UAE has assisted in the evacuation of 20,522 people from Afghanistan.”

The UAE has facilitated the evacuation of nationals from the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Poland, Spain and Mexico.

The official stated that the UAE has reached its capacity limit and will not be able to accommodate more evacuees. He said that the first batch of evacuated people will fly to destination countries in the United States and Europe on Thursday.
