The development of agro-industry can help eradicate poverty, create business and increase public revenue.
Almost all federal states in Mexico have the capacity to enter the agro-industrial sector.
According to research by the Belisario DomÃnguez Institute (IBD) General Directorate of Bonds, Mexico and most of its states have a competitive advantage to promote competitive regional development levers and boost agriculture through agro-industrial parks.
A paper by researcher Jaime Arturo Del RÃo Monges highlights the positive externalities of promoting agriculture at the city, state and national levels in Mexico in reducing poverty, enhancing food security, employment, economic growth and public revenue.
Research shows that this is linked to challenging situations such as poverty, population growth, global warming and its impact on climate change, where the need to increase food security will grow.
According to IBD research, according to Coneval, the states with the most poor people in 2020 are: Chiapas (75.5%); Guerrero (66.4%); Puebla (62.4%); Oaxaca (61.7%) %); Tlaxcala (59.3%).
On the other hand, the states with the lowest percentage of people living in poverty this year are: Baja California (22.5 percent); Legione Nuova (24.3 percent); Chihuahua (25.3 percent); Coahuila (25.6 percent); Colima (26.7 percent ).
The Institute’s research shows that it is possible and necessary to evaluate alternatives to the extension of such policies in public, private or public-private programs that promote the integration and strengthening of rural producers and rural residents.
