Sony Pat, 10 February (IANS) Two leading education, research and capacity building institutions in India and the United Arab Emirates have decided to strengthen their academic collaboration and enter into a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The MoU was signed between Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) in Abu Dhabi, UAE and OP Jindal Global University (JGU) in Sonipat, India.
Anwar Gargash School of Diplomacy was represented by Director General Nickolay Mladenov and OP Jindal Global University was represented by Founding Vice-Chancellor Professor C. Raj Kumar (PhD).
In support of the mission of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) was launched in 2014 and has become a driving force behind the Ministry’s efforts to educate, inform and accredit current and future UAE diplomats and Government leaders represent nations on the global stage.
The MoU recognizes the importance of the mutually beneficial relationship between the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy and OP Jindal Global University. It highlighted the need to strengthen collaboration between Anwar Gargash School of Diplomacy and JGU to transform education, policy development and strategic collaboration between India and the United Arab Emirates.
Prof. C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice-Chancellor, OP Jindal Global University said, “This is a partnership between Abu Dhabi’s leading educational institution, Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA), and OP Jindal Global University, India’s number one private university.
AGDA is a unique center of excellence that combines training, capacity building and mentoring for UAE diplomats and government leaders, with all the attributes of a university offering degree, diploma and certificate programmes, teaching and research. The MOU provides an opportunity for the two agencies to collaborate at a high level in mutually agreed areas. I look forward to working with the outstanding team led by Nikolai Mradnov, Director General of the Diplomatic Academy. “
Prof. Raj Kumar further stated: “OP Jindal Global University has close ties with the United Arab Emirates Embassy in New Delhi. The UAE Embassy in India, under the leadership and support of Dr. Abdulnasser Alshaali, facilitated our partnership with the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic This MoU was signed. We are very grateful for his commitment and dedication to institution building to foster stronger relations between India and the UAE.”
Professor Mohan Kumar (PhD), Director of the JGU International Office and Director of Jindal Global G20 Research Centre, hailed the new partnership and said, “The UAE and India currently enjoy a comprehensive strategic partnership that extends to the realm of people-to-people and education, in particular. I have every confidence that this MoU will make a substantive contribution to strengthening this important partnership between India and the UAE.”
The MoU will, inter alia, involve joint research papers and conduct research in jointly identified areas, based on the institutional strengths of the School of Foreign Affairs and JGU. In doing so, it will seek to explore coordination and joint collaboration on training programs. Finally, the MoU will also explore the possibility of faculty exchange, while focusing on student mobility involving short-term studies, internships and dual degree pathways. This MoU has the potential to be a pioneer and model for educational cooperation between India and the UAE.
