GV Symphony Orchestra Concert

November 29, GVSU Symphony Orchestra will be performed at the Louis Armstrong Theater at the Haas Center for the Performing Arts.

The performance will include music by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Giovanni Gabrielli, Alexander Glazunov, Franz Schubert and Georges Bizet.

This event is free and open to the public. More information can be found on the GVSU Department of Music, Theater and Dance website.

GV Music Program Faculty Artist Recital

there will be one Faculty Artist Recital “Storytelling” on December 4th at 12 noon in the Sherman van Solkema Auditorium.

This event, Dan Graser’s solo saxophone performance, will tell a unique story.

The performance will last one and a half hours.

“Double Take: Mel Chin and Elizabeth Turk” at Frederik Meijer Gardens

The Frederik Meijer Garden and Sculpture Park will host aDouble Take: Mel Chin and Elizabeth Turk” will run from November 28 to March 26.

Chin and Turk’s work explores a variety of techniques that utilize wood, stone, aluminum, water and sound. The works in this exhibition focus on sculptures that address themes of the natural world. Artists explore current issues such as memorialization, environmental hazards and endangered species.

Last Cinespace Event for Fall 2022

On November 30th, the GVSU Department of Visual Media Arts will host its final Cinespace event for the semester. The event will feature a screening and discussion of “Before Sunset” at 6:30 pm in Lake Superior Hall, Room 173.

This screening concludes the term’s Grand Valley film series and is the eighth film shown since October. Previous films include “Robocop,” “Before Sunrise,” “Don’t Watch Now,” “The Blair Witch Project,” “What Happened…” and “Under the Skin.”

The series also includes an open projector night at the Wealthy Theater in downtown Grand Rapids.

The event was moderated by Professor Spencer Everhart, adjunct professor in GVSU’s Film and Video Production Program.
