The recently concluded 30th edition of the Arab Travel Market (ATM) set a new show record as organizers welcomed more than 40,000 attendees, a 29% increase compared to 2022 and a 5% increase compared to 2019.
In response to the theme of ATM 2023, ‘Towards Net Zero’, more than 2,100 exhibitors and delegates from more than 150 countries gathered at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) to discuss how the industry can ensure sustainable mobility for future generations.
Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director, Arabian Travel Market ME said: “My colleagues and I are delighted that so many travel professionals are joining us in Dubai to celebrate our 30th edition and spotlight our industry’s ongoing journey to net zero. We are at The fact that ATM 2023 witnessed record attendance is very encouraging and a strong indication that tourism in the Middle East is in good shape once again.”
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of ATM, a number of special events are on the agenda during the four-day exhibition. Hilton wins inaugural Sustainable Stand Award. The hotel brand was selected by an independent jury for its decision to use local suppliers for its stand and its commitment to re-use as much material as possible over the next three years. Hilton also uses a carbon calculator to measure the carbon footprint associated with its participation in the show and has taken steps to reduce this output.
The prestigious Pearl Award, also dedicated to the 30th edition of ATM, was awarded to Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Dubai Duty Free, for his outstanding contribution to the tourism industry in the UAE. McLoughlin began his career at Dubai Duty Free in 1983 and has since helped transform the organization into a $2 billion company.
Hosted by Eleni Giokos, host and CNN correspondent, the show’s opening session delves into the climate change debate as tourism leaders take to the global stage. The line-up of notable speakers included Sujit Mohanty, Regional Division for Arab States, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR); Dr. Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, Managing Director, Jordan Tourism Authority; and HE Walid Nassar, Minister of Tourism of Lebanon.
ATM 2023 is co-hosted with Dubai World Trade Center with strategic partners including Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) as Destination Partner, Emirates as Official Airline Partner, IHG Hotels & Resorts as Official Hotel Partner and Al Rais traveling as an official DMC partner. – trade arab news agency
