Foreign Minister S Jaishankar called the construction of the two temples of the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan (BAPS) sanstha in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain “two consecutive miracles in the Gulf region”.
Jaishankar, speaking on Gulf States Day, as part of the ongoing Pramukh Swami centenary celebrations, Jaishankar said two temples – one under construction in Abu Dhabi and the other One is expected to be in Bahrain — “while miracles are happening one after another in the two Gulf regions.”
“This is Pramukhswami’s dream and prophecy and we are all determined to make this temple faster and grander. We hope and look forward to seeing BAPS temples in Paris, USA, South Africa, Australia and Thailand,” said Jaishankar.
Hails BAPS contribution in rescuing Indian students trapped in Russian crossfire –Ukraine war, Jaisankar added, “nearly 20,000 of our students were asked to be extradited from Ukraine in the winter…We will never forget the contribution of BAPS in saving them. They recruited volunteers from 11 countries to the Polish border, where they established built a kitchen that serves 1,000 hot meals a day.”
He also called BAPS a “local and global” association, an organization that “cares for tradition while using technology”.
Jaishankar pointed out that Pramukh Swami’s ideals also inspired his foreign policy and highlighted the concept of vasudhaiva kutumbakam exemplified by the G20.
Jaishankar said: “We live in a world full of challenges, mainly the 3Cs – Conflict, Covid and Climate – and the solution lies in the 3Ps – Peace, Progress and Prosperity… The motto of the G20 is vasudhaiva kutumbakam and… be creative The same translation in English is ‘one earth, one family and one future’.
“While the world may be one world, the world does have developed countries and developing countries, and today developing countries are the most worried because they see their economic situation is deteriorating… At that time we have a responsibility to us (India) Becoming the voice of the global south…announced today that we will hold a virtual meeting with more than 100 countries so that developing countries can express their concerns and we can properly express the same concerns at the G20 summit,” he added.
India is set to host a two-day virtual conference of more than 120 countries next week called “Voices of the Global South Summit”.
“When countries look for other countries that can help them, at least in Asia and Indian Ocean countries…the country they trust is India. There is the example of the earthquake in Nepal…then there was a war in Yemen…India today The image of India is changing because of the power and influence (essence of vasudhaiva kutumbakam) of foreign policy,” Jaishankar added.
Representatives of the Gulf countries attending the event also welcomed Pramukh Swami’s determination to clear the blood from the Akshardham temple after the terrorist attacks in September 2002 and his initiative to build the temple in Abu Dhabi.
Among the representatives was Nazeem Al-Kudsi, former CEO of Abu Dhabi Investment Council.
“Our district has been having a difficult time in terms of acceptance for many reasons. I don’t want to go into why and how (of it)… the breath of Pramukhswami has brought us great leaders. Let me hereby offer my respect to Modiji Salute to Prime Minister, a man of Dharma. I would like to say to my Indian brothers and sisters, do not be afraid, your land will prosper, this is the breath of Pramukhswami,” he said.
Dr. Bassam Alkhatib, Syrian Ambassador to India, also added: “In Syria, we fight against terrorism. That is why I am here today with a message from my Foreign Minister to tell everyone here that Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s The message is a message of peace and respect and love for all humanity.”
Aman Puri, India’s consul general in the UAE, has called the construction of a Hindu temple in the Middle East a “historic milestone”.
