[ad_1]

Abu Dhabi: Salman Khan and Mohammad Usman starred in Fujairah with bats on Sunday as they beat Abu Dhabi by 62 runs to claim the 2023 UAE D10 League title.

The Fujairah batsmen went all out and made Abu Dhabi pay for their decision to bowl first. The visitors conceded a total of 139 wickets as Salman Khan and Mohammad Usman led with brilliant half-centuries.

Fujairah got off to a very different start as they trailed by 32 runs in the third innings with cheap deaths of starters Hamid Khan (8) and Reis Ahmad (11).

After an early slump, Salman and Usman joined forces at the third wicket to add 80 to the total in just 31 overs before the former fell.

Muhammad Zubair Khan beat Salman Khan, who amassed his half-century in the UAE D10 league final and provided Abu Dhabi with a much-needed breakthrough.

Salman Khan smashed four boundaries and three sixes to become Fujairah’s top scorer with 51 for 24 balls.

Fujairah then struck another blow to their flying batting charge as Nasir Faraz (1) fell victim to Raja Akifullah Khan in the next over.

Muhammad Usman Khan and Hafiz Almas rioted in the ensuing overs, scoring 19 runs in the final over, while the former was knocked out in the final over.

Salman remains Fujairah’s notable runner with 50 off 21 balls, aided by four boundaries and three sixes.

For Abu Dhabi, Raja Akifullah Khan and Muhammad Zubair Khan took two wickets each.

Opener Mohammad Kamran Atta (22) and in-form middle batsman Ali Abed (23) were notable runners for the hosts, while others failed to make it to the grand stage make significant contributions.

Apart from Atta and Abid, only Anoop Gopalkrishna (14) can reach double figures.

Mohammed Faraazuddin and Umair Ali Khan led Fujairah’s bowling attack with two wickets each, while Muhammad Rohid, Shahbaz Ali, Haider Ali and Nasir Faraz had one scalp each.

It is worth mentioning here that eventual champions Fujairah put on a dominant performance in the recently concluded UAE D10 League, with the team also topping the standings.
