Glow Wild: Animal Lantern Celebration
Get ready for Birmingham Zoo’s extraordinary light experience, Glow Wild: A Celebration of Animal Lanterns. The festivities run until Monday, January 16th from 5pm to 9pm. It will be open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2023, but will be closed this coming Thanksgiving, Christmas and Christmas Eve. Watch the zoo come to life with wildlife and sea life lantern creations to light up the night. Take the Red Diamond Express Train or take a spin on the Protective Life Carousel. Galactic Lights in Huntsville
Explore Huntsville Arboretum’s curated lights until Saturday, December 31. Holiday Tree Lighting – Birmingham
The City of Birmingham is hosting its annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Lynn Park on Sunday 27th November from 4pm to 8pm, bring your lawn chairs and enjoy free concerts, dance performances, vendors, food trucks, festival Photos and Coca-Cola samples. Celebration will be held in front of City Hall on North 20th Street.
Activities include:
- 4 p.m. – Magic City Market vendors and food trucks.
- 5 p.m. – Dance performance by Ursula Smith.
- 5:15pm – When expanding.
- 6 p.m. – Lighting ceremony.

Poarch Band of Creek Indians Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Annual Pow Wow
After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Poarch Band of Creek Indians is celebrating one of its most enduring Thanksgiving traditions with the annual Pow Wow. The two-day celebration will take place on Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the gathering on Poarch’s reservation, which began in 1971, as a homecoming celebration for tribal members. Thousands of families and people across Alabama are expected to travel to Atmore to experience the pooch tradition and honor the tribe’s place in Alabama history. The event is filled with family activities for all ages: Coronation of the Poarch Creek Indian Princess, arts and crafts and merchandise, vendor booths, handcrafted products, traditional home-cooked BBQ, fire-grilled corn and buffalo burgers.
