Cleveland Clinic opens cancer center in Abu Dhabi

The Cleveland Clinic opened a 205,000-square-foot cancer facility at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, bringing a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and treating the disease to the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East, according to a press release.

Featuring 32 exam rooms, 24 private infusion rooms and two operating rooms, the new facility offers screening and diagnostic tests, advanced radiation therapy and precision cell therapies, among other services and support. Its team of 150 nurses, physicians and radiologists has extensive experience treating patients with serious and complex cancer challenges, according to a press release.

The Cleveland Clinic is committed to increasing access to clinical trials and developing new treatments, and to exploring untapped areas of research, such as treating young-onset cancers and understanding and managing side effects of cancer treatment, the release said, noting that cancer is the third most common cancer in the UAE. cause of death.

“Cleveland Clinic will bring cancer clinical trials from North America to the Middle East for the first time,” said Dr. Stephen Grobmyer, director of the Cleveland Clinic’s Oncology Institute in Abu Dhabi. “This will provide the foundation for patients to have access to the latest and greatest treatments from early to late stages of the disease.”
