Deciding Entertainment Isn’t Always Fun | News, Sports, Work

[ad_1]

decide, decide.

I thought figuring out what to eat or deciding where to eat would be the toughest choice for me and Better Half as a couple.

But just picking a movie to watch at home has become very complicated.

Now, not only do we run the risk of starving for a few days, but we also end up starving for entertainment.

Usually our movie nights are off “School Night” Because I can never get over opening credits, Friday at Kiaski’s house is kind of like a movie night…that is, if we can decide on one and actually watch something.

We started off optimistic enough, but were soon challenged, especially after discovering that among the vast collection available, there are almost 4,000 free movies to watch with just a click of the remote.

Four thousand movies? ? ! ! I started clicking them, thinking I’d be impressed by the movie’s cover art — not the most productive process.

Picking just one movie to sit through and enjoy is quite an investment, but we try to approach it as sound-thinking adults, trying to be as logical as possible without losing interest in pursuit of the two-hour commitment Or sane. Friday night, it’s all about relaxation and a diversion from the normal pace of life.

We think about our movie choices in the same way we think about our restaurant choices.

What are you in the mood to eat?

Chinese? Italian? seafood? Hamburger?

what do you want to see

comedy? drama? A documentary? musical?

One thing we generally agree on is not to watch musicals, at least not as a couple.

While I appreciate a good musical, not everyone loves a movie in which characters suddenly start singing at the most inopportune moments, or start dancing among other strangers who start dancing.

I try to imagine what’s going on in real life, and in my weird little head, I can see it and even be a part of it.

Like finding a place to eat, movie decisions can be based on recommendations from family or friends or reviews of watching this or trying that.

you will like it. it’s great. You will have fun with it. You won’t be disappointed – so the encouragement to watch this movie is gone.

Sadly, sometimes the best movie advice we can glean is when someone says something is really good, but we forget the name of it.

We also agreed that the movies we were going to watch had to have closed captions, otherwise we would never know what was going on. what did he say? Do you understand it?

When we finally narrow down our options, we get to see the characters in the movie, as well as the storyline.

I read the plot descriptions provided and they are usually very vague and leave a lot to the imagination – “A guy meets a girl, they fall in love and face challenges.” Very original and engaging.

I didn’t realize entertainment could be so painful.

9 times out of 10, we end up going to see a movie we’ve seen a hundred times – maybe “full moon,” For example.

We laugh at all the same scenes and recite lines from our hearts while we eat our popcorn.

Or I just read books and Better Half watches news analysis shows.

Sometimes, that’s enough.
