Dewa completes 64km of water supply network

[ad_1]

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) said it completed major water pipeline projects across the emirate last year at a total cost of about 358 million dirhams ($97.4 million).

The statement from Dewa said the pipeline works stretched 64 kilometers and covered the main areas of Dubai with diameters of 600, 900 and 1,200 millimeters.

The extension of the power transmission pipeline has remote monitoring function, which can effectively control the critical water supply network around the clock. It said this was through automatic valves operated by control centers to reduce disruptions and losses to the water network.

The extension also included the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of glass-reinforced epoxy (GRE) water pipes of different diameters.

In announcing the news, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Dewa’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, said the company is committed to developing Dubai’s water supply network to improve its efficiency and reliability and increase water flow.

“The move is aimed at meeting the current and future needs of our customers and delivering Dewa’s services to over 1.15 million customers in Dubai according to the highest standards of availability, reliability and efficiency, while meeting growing demand and increasing water reserves. Dewa’s aggregate desalinated water production capacity has reached 490 million imperial gallons per day,” he said.

Al Tayer noted that Dewa is investing in advanced smart networks as well as the latest technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to strengthen its leadership and global excellence in reducing water loss.

He said Dewa has surpassed the world’s leading utilities and has one of the lowest percentage losses in the water network globally.

Water network losses are recorded at 4.5% in 2022, compared to approximately 15% in North America.”This underscores our position as one of the preeminent and preeminent utilities in all sectors globally,” he added..-TradeArabia News Service
