The Public Health Protection Department of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has successfully concluded a six-month vision screening campaign in schools across Dubai. More than 26,700 students from different schools in Dubai underwent basic vision tests (vision) conducted by qualified optometrists from Al Jaber Optical’s professional team in collaboration with DHA.
Running from October 2022 until the end of March 2023, the campaign aims to identify potential vision problems among students and raise awareness of the importance of regular eye exams and eye care. The event is part of DHA’s commitment to promoting public health and ensuring students have access to quality health care.
Dr Ramadan Ibrahim AlBlooshi, Acting Director, Department of Public Health and Protection, DHA, said: “In line with our commitment to ensure the optimal health of our students, we conduct regular health awareness campaigns to educate children on health and wellbeing and emphasize the importance of preventive care and early detection.”
Al Blooshi thanked Al Jaber Optical for supporting this important school health campaign and the Dubai school management for supporting such public health initiatives.
Sana Naser, Acting Health Officer, School Health Unit, Department of Public Health Protection, DHA, said: “Unlike adults, children may not be aware that they have vision problems, so it is important to have regular eye exams from the time children start school to ensure that vision problems do not appear. Go undetected and prevent further loss of vision. Regular screening is important to detect any eye changes that require early intervention and treatment, this ensures your child’s health is protected and their learning journey is not adversely affected .
