Host Michael Harriott retells American history intact from an unapologetic black perspective

With recipes featuring detailed research, a little barbershop humor and a parade of celebrity guests, Hang maniac will spotlight key figures and moments in black American history that were previously glossed over by textbooks. From the story of Rosetta Sapp, the queer black woman who invented rock ‘n’ roll, to that of Forest Joe, the escaped slave America’s first police squad was created for, Harriott will deliver a riveting, hilarious and more accurate account of version of black history. The ongoing weekly series will feature guest stars such as MSNBC’s Joey Reed, humorist Roy Wood Jr., actress Yvette Nicole Brown, reporter Nicole Hannah-Jones and Roland Martin, actor KevOnStage, politician Bakary Cyrus, TV personality Tiffany Cross and more.
Harriot coined the popular phrase “invited to a picnic” and is considered an authoritative voice on race, culture and politics by prominent news outlets including MSNBC and CNN. His award-winning journalism has been published in The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Guardian, and others.
