Dubai Airport Launches Faster Mobile Immigration Service
Travellers passing through Dubai airports can now benefit from a new mobile immigration service designed to make entry and departure procedures faster and more convenient.
The Dubai Airport Mobile Immigration service, called “Click and Travel,” was officially launched on September 7 by the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai.
The system allows passport officers to complete immigration procedures using mobile devices instead of relying only on fixed counters.
According to GDRFA Dubai, a passenger transaction can be completed in approximately 12 to 15 seconds. The technology combines facial recognition, fingerprint biometrics, electronic passport reading and automated pre-screening. Officers can also securely access passenger information through a connected communications network.
More Than 31,000 Passengers Tested
The system has already gone through an extensive trial. Between May and the end of August 2026, 31,373 passengers were processed using Click and Travel.
The first pilot began in October 2025 at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport. A second phase launched in May 2026 expanded testing across Dubai’s airport terminals and passenger categories. Following the trials, authorities officially launched the service on September 7.
Who Can Use the Mobile Immigration Service?
Click and Travel is available to UAE citizens, UAE residents, GCC nationals and international visitors. It can be used for both arrival and departure procedures.
The mobile approach also gives immigration officers greater flexibility during busy periods. Instead of requiring every passenger to approach a fixed counter, officers can move through airport areas and process travellers where additional support is needed.
For Dubai, the initiative represents another step toward faster, technology-driven airport services and a more seamless experience for international travellers.
