Jordanian expat Tariq Azar won 1kg of 24-carat gold in the Big Ticket electronic draw in Abu Dhabi this week.

Dubai resident Azar became the first recipient of the weekly Gold Awards launched this month. A gram of 24-karat gold traded at Dh202 on Friday.

Hazard has lived in the UAE for the past 20 years, buying his own tickets for many years.

When the representative of Big Ticket called him, he was ecstatic that he had finally won the lottery after working so long. He plans to keep his winnings as savings for now and keep buying tickets.

Since the beginning of this month, Big Ticket’s weekly electronic draw has been offering customers the chance to win 1kg. Anyone who buys tickets on the promotional date will also stand a chance to win a grand prize of AED 25 million on November 3.

As of October 31, people can buy tickets online or at the in-store counters at Abu Dhabi International Airport and Al Ain International Airport.

Four winners lucky in September

Last month, four lucky winners each received a weekly cash prize of AED 300,000.

Rakesh Sasidharan won the first week of September. He has lived in Doha for the past few years, working in retail. He will seek to invest his winnings in his daughter’s future education.

Muhammad Shahbaz, a Pakistani expat who lives with his family in Al Ain, was lucky in the second week’s draw. For the past two years, he has saved enough money to buy raffle tickets every two months. He will invest the winnings in his construction business, buy property in his home country and donate the rest to charity.

Bangladeshi expat Abdul Aziz, who has been a resident of Abu Dhabi for the past eight months, won in the third week. He and more than 20 of his closest friends and relatives chipped in to buy tickets. It was the first time he bought a ticket and won.

Ramachandran Gangadharan, an Indian expat from Qatar, won the last weekly draw in September.
