Dubai: Sheikh Mohammed launches $1 million programming challenge-News

The five runners-up will each receive US$50,000. In addition, the four best trainers will each win $25,000.

The Ruler of Dubai announced a coding challenge, awarding awards to graduates of the Million Arab Coders Initiative.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, called on the graduates of the initiative on Sunday to use the skills they acquired in the program to develop projects and solutions.

The grand prize for the most innovative coding project is USD 1 million, and the five runners-up will each receive USD 50,000. In addition, the four best trainers will each win $25,000.

Interested graduates can submit their projects through the official website of the Million Arab Coders Initiative: www.arabcoders.ae.

Entries will be evaluated by a jury composed of coding, technology and entrepreneurial experts from the UAE and abroad. The winners will be announced at the end of the year at a ceremony held at the Expo 2020 Dubai venue.

Under the leadership of the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), “Millions of Arab Programmers” is the largest project of its kind in the world, aiming to teach one million young people in the Arab world how to program.

Despite the obstacles and logistical challenges posed by the 2020 coronavirus outbreak, the initiative succeeded in achieving its goals within the established period of three years.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum posted a series of tweets on his official Twitter account, praising the achievements of the Million Arab Programmers Initiative. He said: “From 80 countries Of one million Arab programmers have joined the most important program to train their future language… through 5 million working hours, 76,000 training courses, 100,000 successful graduation projects and 1,500 outstanding student scholarships… this is Our Arab youth have made great achievements in three years.”

He added: “The development and digitalization of the region continues under the leadership of the UAE. One million graduates of Arab programmers were invited to participate in Dubai’s biggest coding challenge announced to the Arab world, creating a tangible impact for them. Society and build a brighter future for their country.”

When announcing the new challenge, Sheikh Mohammed said: “We welcome the graduates of the Million Arab Programmer Initiative to compete for the title of top programmer in the Arab world. We look forward to serving mankind, improving the quality of life and further contributing to the building of a stable and prosperous society. Contribute.”

He added: “Our Arab youth are the wealth of our country. They are the backbone of the country’s development. They will make their country on the road of a future-oriented country. Programming, technology and advanced science are the most important. This future Cornerstone.”

Finally, he said: “The future is full of unlimited opportunities waiting for disruptive ideas. The Million Arab Programmers Challenge opens its doors to welcome talents seeking to jump on the wave of digital transformation, and actively promote their own development through further development of themselves. Overall. Develop their country’s digital economy.”

Sheikh Mohammed also recently announced Launch the National Coder Program Work with Google, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cisco, IBM, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE), LinkedIn, NVIDIA and Facebook. The plan aims to train 100,000 coders, establish 1,000 global digital companies, and increase the initial investment from Dh1.5 billion to Dh4 billion.

The Million Arab Programmers Initiative was launched in October 2017. It provides opportunities for young Arab talents to learn various coding skills and apply them to website and mobile application development, blockchain, artificial intelligence, data and cloud computing.

Since its launch, the program has awarded more than 1,000 nano-degree certificates to outstanding coders. More than 3,600 certified trainers from all over the world were present to assist participants in technical aspects and provide support for turning their ideas into actual projects.
